Whether it’s a child’s birthday party or you’re hosting an event where little ones will be invited, having enough party games to keep them entertained is crucial. We all know what a bored toddler looks like – and it’s not pretty! Below are some of our favourite party game ideas.
Pass the Ball
Pass the parcel is always a hit amongst kids, but when it comes to toddlers it needs a bit of adjusting. Little ones have a tendency to rip off wrapping paper as soon as they see it, regardless of rules!
Instead of a wrapped parcel, pass a ball. Play some music and, whenever you pause it, the child holding the ball can get up to collect a prize. Simple and effective, this is sure to be a hit at every toddler’s party!
Egg and Spoon Race
The egg and spoon race has been around for years and years, which shows just how much kids love it. All you have to do is boil some eggs (or buy some rubber alternatives if you’re worried about using the real thing) and grab a load of spoons. Each toddler has to balance the egg on the spoon whilst walking – or running – towards the finish line. Whoever gets over the line first without dropping their egg wins a prize! You can organise it indoor or, if sun shines outside, have an outdoor egg and spoon race! And in case anyone drops an egg that’s a little under-boiled, you can easily clean up your garden plastic furniture with some bleach (click here to learn all about bleach stain removal).
Ball Pit Fun
Ball pits are always a hit amongst little ones and can keep them occupied whilst you sort out party bags or chat to the other mums and dads. Simply blow up a paddling pool and fill with plenty of brightly coloured, plastic balls!
There are lots of games you can play with the ball pit, too. For example, pick a colour and see which child can collect the most balls before the time runs out. Whoever wins gets a prize – of course!
There’s nothing like a good old-fashioned scavenger hunt to keep kids happy. Have a list of items, such as ‘something round’, ‘something blue’ and ‘something soft’. Then, set all the little ones off to find their items. They can tick collect all the items in a basket to bring back to you.
Parties are a great time to get creative and give your kids a childhood they’ll remember. They’re also a great way to keep them entertained whilst you get some time to talk to your friends and family – which is always welcome!
