It’s been awfully long since we shared our two cents on this blog. I have to confess I am not ashamed, I am just shocked at how time has flown. I do apologise to our frequent visitors but the parents amongst you would understand.
Ida and I have our different reasons for being AWOL, but some very common ones too. Parenting, life and generally trying to contribute to putting food on the table.
I will dive into my reasons because a big part of this blog is about being real. We all are human going through life and whilst consistency in blogging is key, so is survival. My absence was mainly triggered by falling preggo. I am 4 months pregnant at the moment which is great news! But for the first part of my pregnancy, the first trimester, I was rather cranky as you might have read in this post I wrote when I went on a bit of a rant. I was dealing with fatigue, nausea and zero F’s to give for anything but my toddler’s wellbeing and my sleep requirements. To add to that I have a very demanding job with extremely demanding clients so I have had to maintain that side of my life whilst balance it out with putting my body’s needs in the forefront.
Being a mother to a 2 year old whilst expecting is extremely exhausting and I am sure anyone who has had a 2 year old knows they are exhausting even when you aren’t expecting. My daughter and I have such a close bond and I have always made it a point to make time for us to play and engage for sometime after dinner and before bed. I have to be honest it has been hard to keep up and be fully present during these times. Mommy gets tired. A lot of this time is spent answering the same question 30 times and my pregnancy hormones don’t have time for that.
I hope this explains where I have been. Ida was away, travelling with her baba and will be sharing her experience of travelling with a 2 year old who had just transitioned into being potty trained.
Adulting with kids can be tough and finding balance is our never ending quest at The Rookie Parent Society. Ida and I plan to continue sharing our versions of being modern day mamas and we hope that you will come back to visit our blog for more.
If we aren’t here, Twitter is the second best place to find us.
Until next time! xxxx
